I've had this passion for as long as I can remember and I just now realized that in order to make something of yourself as an actor you have to be a "pusher" of a product. I have always been tenacious and likely to move forward despite obstacles, but I am also someone who dislikes a lot of attention. I want to succeed as an actor and what I have recently learned is that I must push and promote
myself . I must be willing to get myself seen in order to do what I want to do, which is to act professionally. In this business the words ME MYSELF and I are going to be of major use to me.
Denzel Washington has said many times,"Do what you have to do in order to do what you want to do." I have to be able to seek something that I dislike and that is ATTENTION. I need attention so that I can pursue my goal. It is crazy because a lot of people pursue this career choice for the attention itself, so the pushing is easy for them. I'm not one to seek attention, but I have to seek it because I may not get any further if I don't.
Wow, I spoke about
sacrifices just over a year ago and I have now encountered one of many to come.
Well described man. We're birds of a feather. I don't know how common this trait is in Industry folk, but personally I was DEF feelin tha ol "Amen" comin on when I read this. At least I have the advantage of promoting my projects instead of just myself - telling someone "how great I am" is a mile-high hurdle - one that appears in my pathway every now and then. The coo thing about being creative is there's always a new, creative way cross the hurdle...(even tho its still difficult) Your blog is a perfect example.
ReplyDeleteYour grind is inspirational. Grind forth.

To be an actor you will always have that attention that you have to face otherwise then you'll be sitting in the dark and no one will ever see your essence or talent because you didn't want the attention!
